4th of July Round Up
Today is Independence Day. I feel sorta conflicted by the whole thing. I feel very fortunate for the blessings that go with being born in this country, but I, like many of my fellow countryfolks feel strange about how our country is being run. So in light of those feelings I thought I’d link to some interesting posts that caught my eye today.
Blue Mass Group has posted The Declaration of Independence.
Georgia10 at DailyKos has a very different take on what it feels like to celebrate independence and freedom on this Independence Day.
I marched in both the Pepperell and Harvard 4th of July parades this weekend in support of Deval Patrick. The parades were such a quaint slice of Americana. The crowds were large and enthusiastic, even though it was very hot and muggy. I hope to have some pictures to post soon.
Hope your 4th was enjoyable.

Gabrieli is committed to Massachusetts
Chris Gabrieli has made a deal with the people of Massachusetts to make government more accountable , more accessible and more responsible. He has promised to implement some common-sense ideas to make our government work better for us.I especially like his plan to hold regular town hall meetings across the state , to give taxpayers a say in government. I also respect his pledge to serve a full term as governor and not use the job as a springboard to higher office. Chris Gabrieli has deep roots in Massachusetts and he’s invested himself into the state . He lives here, he works here, and is raising his five young children here.
I will vote for Chris Gabrieli because he has established a track record of solving problems and getting results for Massachusetts.

Gabrieli is committed to buying the governor’s race by any means necessary and he continues to be a “me-too” candidate. Those comments about giving taxpayers a say, pledging to serve a full-term is all stuff that Deval Patrick has been saying for a long time.
Deval Patrick earned his lead in this race by getting out and actually doing the work. He has inspired the largest grassroots effort in Massachusetts history and that in the end will be more effective than throwing money around and echoing the other candidates platform.
Fair warning: Do not shill for your candidate on my blog. This post was about 4th of July festivities, it was not an open call for candidate spam. I mean jeez, talking points, much?

Susan, I had to laugh when I read your comment, not only is a blog open to anyone and anything
once you post it but you have a direct link to Devals website so I mean Jeez it looks like you already made it a Candidate forum.

Jsteven - I’m always happy to amuse. This blog is not open to candidate spam, so that’s where you’re wrong. I give one warning about candidate spam, and if it continues the poster is gone. If people don’t like it, they are free to start their own blog.

Yep. That comment is totally out of place–Gabrieli had nothing to do with Susan’s original post, and the person who posted it didn’t draw any links. That’s spam.
