Kate Donaghue brings the sad news of the passing of lolorb, a frequent contributor at Blue Mass Group, and passionate progressive activist.
I didn’t know Lori very well personally, but I would run into her here and there during Deval Patrick’s campaign for Governor in 2006. It seemed we had the furthest to drive from opposite ends of the state. Heh. One conversation in particular I remember was how much she encouraged me and some of the other coordinators from smaller, less progressive areas when we were kvetching over not making much progress in recruiting volunteers, or votes for Deval. She knew that every vote was important and that we shouldn’t get too down, but look at the big picture. She was so generous with her time and experience. Her enthusiasm for progressive politics and life in general will be greatly missed.
Bright blessings to you, Lori as you continue your journey.
Okay, let’s get this part out of the way. Hi. Long time no blog. What’s up with that?
That’s a great question. It would probably take me the rest of this year to explain everything, so I’ll just sum it up thusly: I had to go away for a while.
I’m back.
Well, I’m not all the way back. That is to say that I’ve made some changes in my life that have been very good for me. I have dialed way back on my commitments and have been focusing on getting healthy — with admittedly mixed results. I still have some changing to do, but that will take some time. I’m a work in progress, I guess.
Today is Thursday, and that should only mean one thing: we get a new episode of The Office! Yay. We\\\’re getting down to it folks. Counting tonight, only three new episodes left. \\r\\n

*snip* A single payer system might reduce administrative costs, but that’s what the market does. Also, we survive on our investments [as opposed to just member premiums]. The market controls costs. So, I’m in favor of a multipayer system. (emphasis mine)
